Allergy to tattoo pigment

How you can guess, the appearance of the pigment allergy is unpredictable. And each case will definitely lead to a conflict with the client, if you can not clearly explain what is happening and why that's not at fault. A good understanding of the problem requires a theoretical part. I collected information from several scientific articles and adapted it for ease of perception. Let's go!
I already told you about the difficulties of working with red color. So, the problems with its removal doesn't end really. Although allergic reactions are a rare thing, but its commonly appeared because of the pigments of the red spectrum(everything from pale pink to brown) rather than black ones . Therefore, you should always have on mind when removing a large amount of red is to make a trial on a small part of the tattoo and only after results continue to work with the client.
Contact dermatitis and photodermatitis
Often manifested as hives, redness with itching. The reason - active exposure to sunlight. So we treat it with good sunscreen SPF 50, whenever it's possible person should cover a tattoo with clothes. Meds: antihistamines and glucocorticosteroid creams and ointments
Lehnenoid reaction
The weakest among the expressed reactions. Easy surface change, swelling, peeling. In the scientific community this reaction is compared with dermatitis. Recommendations: antihistamines, glucocorticosteroid creams, ointments and even local injections (strictly by dermatologist or surgeon!). And here Nd: YAG Q-switch laser can enter the case to remove the pigment from the skin, but it's worth remembering that the laser action itself in some cases can cause the allergic reaction, because the pigment changes its structure when "laser-treated". Although the laser method has proved itself to be effective!
The following two cases of allergy, unfortunately, are not cured by the methods from the previous paragraphs. Antihistamines and local drugs are not effective, injections can only stop the manifestation, but do not guarantee success. The use of a laser will not work either, because both of these reactions cause an increase in tissues, and if we are talking about red color and a wavelength of 530 nm, the laser simply "does not get" to the pigment!
Granulomatous reaction
One of the most common strong reactions. Painful increase in tissue volume, itching, irritation. Unlike previous types of reactions, it will not pass by itself, therapy is required.
Pseudolymphophasic reaction
It reminds of skin lymphomatosis, just take a look at the name. Quite a serious reaction. In this case, the area of the skin not only increases in size and swells, but also significantly inflames, hurts, itches constantly.
What to do in these two cases?
Any way to remove the pigment, which causes an allergic reaction, with the destruction of the skin. That is, the pigment removal with the skin area. Yes, it's very unpleasant, but the situation requires it. It can be liquid nitrogen, chemical methods, dermabrasion, carbon dioxide laser, electrocoagulation, surgical excision etc. The decision is made using a puncture biopsy.

These are all very rare situations, but you must always be prepared for the fact that there are things that can not be foreseen. You know who to contact for more information in case;)
