What is a nanosecond?
In the descriptions of lasers for removing tattoos, in wich we see the words nanosecond and picosecond, the duration of the laser flash is stated as a nanosecond. Therefore, there is a need to understand the essence of terms to choose the equipment that you really need (and to protect yourself from lies)

1 nanosecond = 1 billionth of a second
or
1 nanosecond is 1 second, which is divided into 1 000 000 000
or
1 nanosecond is 1 second, which is divided into 1 000 000 000
Could you imagine? If still somehow vaguely, then here's the next example, the brightest:
Imagine that 1 nanosecond became a simple second, then 1 second turns into 32 years! Yes, yes, of the year! Thus, it turns out that 1 nanosecond and 1 normal second are related as 1 second and 32 years.

What about picoseconds?
There are already picosecond lasers, whose flash speed is even shorter than that of nanosecond lasers. I will make the same analogy as above.
1 picosecond = 1 trillionth of a second
or
1 second, which was divided into 1 000 000 000 000
or
1 second, which was divided into 1 000 000 000 000
And now the scale with the years. If 1 picosecond is 1 second, then 1 second turns into 32 000 years!
The most common lasers
Among commercial models, the most often met laser is subnanosecond one. It's not really 1-2 picoseconds, but approximately 500-750 picoseconds. If compare this with nanosecond lasers, the value is slightly less than 1 nanosecond. That is 750 picoseconds = 0.75 nanoseconds. This value is close to 1 nanosecond, but it still doesn't equal, so the name is subnanosecond lasers.
We are still waiting for the appearance of true picosecond lasers with a range of 10-100 picoseconds, which would work just like nanosecond lasers.
The laser industry is growing, and femtosecond lasers are beginning to appear in the industry, the femtosecond, as you know, is even shorter than the picosecond!
