Classification of scars

What is a scar?
The scar itself is a skin tightening patch to quickly restore the integrity of the organ or tissue. Yes, scars are not only on the skin, but also on liver, myocardium, lung and so on. Scars have no special function, they only restore the function of the tissues.

Clinical and morphological classification

Atrophic scar
Ideal outcome of any damage. The tissue completely fills the defect, but does not deform the surface of the skin. There is a slight difference in the facture and shade, but not critical. Such scars do not require correction.
Normotrophic scar
The result of normal regeneration. The peculiarity of this type of scar is that at the site of a skin defect the scar is located in a small pit, a "minus-tissue". The shade is most often close to the skin, a little whitish. This scar does not cause much discomfort, as the exception of cases of scarring in visible areas of the skin. The most common cause is acne and chickenpox.
Hypertrophic scars
This kind of scar acts above the surface of the skin, plus-fabric. This species appears due to a failure in regeneration - the amount of elastin and collagen produced is over scale. Scarring red and purple hues, dense, can deform tissues and cause not only aesthetic discomfort. They require correction. The reason for their formation is secondary tension. That is, when the scar tries to harden, the skin experiences tension and the scar is formed along the vector of its tension. Such a scar is not aesthetically pleasing, but it can hardly interfere with health.
Keloid scar
Pathological scar, which is classified as a pseudo-tumor skin disease. This species goes beyond the boundaries of damage and begins to capture healthy skin, thereby increasing its area. This is a hyper-redundant collagen and elastin in tissues, a situation very similar in cellular composition to tumors. The inflated bright red surface, which itches, tingles and continues to grow for years. The size of the scar considerably exceeds the dimensions of the damage. For example, a defect with a pin head can be covered with a coin-sized scar. unfortunately, there is still no effective system of working with such scars.
Principal difference between hypertrophic scar and keloid ones.

- Hypertrophic scar never goes beyond the boundaries of initial damage. There was a cut of 5 centimeters, there will be a scar about the same size.

- A keloid scar will capture healthy tissue and grow. At some point, it can stabilize, but due to some influence on it again begin to increase.
Stages of scar formation:
I. Injury and primary healing. 7-10 days

II. Formation of a young scar. 10-30 days

III. Formation of mature rumen. 30-90 days

IV. Final transformation or ripening of the rumen. Period up to several years
The skin is damaged.
What happens according to the stages?
I. Injury and primary healing. 7-10 days

II. Formation of a young scar. 10-30 days

III. Formation of mature rumen. 30-90 days

IV. Final transformation or ripening of the rumen. Period up to several years

Inflammation, cleansing of the wound and primary healing. At this moment it is important to avoid prolonged inflammation and suppuration. During this period granulation tissue is formed - bright pink young scar tissue. At this point, the state of rest and the absence of tension or friction are important. From 30 to 90 days there is a constant synthesis. We need the scar not to undergo tension.

It is critically important that the scar has a rest. For this there are special silicone coatings-gels. Normally, everything will go well and an atrophic scar is formed. Other species will already require a complex system of correction and restructuring of the scar. At the time of formation, there should be no gross effects, strains and frictions, because the scar reacts to all external stimuli. Be careful!
